When the alarms went off, Nate's cell already had the lights out, and the lights that lit the corridor were on minimal power, giving the entire area a slightly greensih tint.
Once they went off, however, the lights in the corridor and in Nathan's cells came on, a bright, offensive florescent glow. Two gaurds looked up from where they had been chatting, watching the image of Nathan on their tv screen.
One started to move off to check on Nathan, and peered for a few moments into his cell. They of course had no idea what was going on, but just to make sure they decided to keep an eye on him.
Two more gaurds came down the stairwell noisely. Perhaps, one said to another, it was just another drill.

<<Continued from Stage Two>>
The elevator itself was dark and rather large. It took some feeling around before she actually felt the crack between the doors themselves. Wordlessly, the medic pull out a blade from a random pocket and applied into the crack and pushed on it. The doors worked their way back. Yet only half way. Glowing lights of green seeped into the space she was now sneaking out of. As she slid across the wall and peered around the corner, she pulled her gun from her right pocket and readied it, sliding the blade back to where she found it.
Nate's cell was located where the security cams were monitored. She'd be able to slip past the cameras to get where she needed to go. Max's little stunt had seen to that. No lights, less chance of being seen. The stairwell doors were next to the elevators. Kaida was on the other side of the elevators. Though, no matter, she could still hear the guards making their way down here. Kaida, having no idea how many guards were in the room with Nate's cell, decided to take her chances with the two about to exit the stairwell. She slid back into the elevator and waited around the corner facing the direction the two guards should be heading.
Kaida was almost disgusted at how loud they were. Not that they should be expecting what was coming to them, but still. The two guards came her way just as she thought. Quietly, she rolled the silencer onto her gun and held it at her side while waiting for them to pass. Step, step, step. Talking the whole way. She gripped the gun tighter as the two passed her hiding point. Now, with only two guards to take out, and no need to stain her blades, Kaida held up the gun and fired. The first guard fell to the ground after taking the bullet to his left temple. She didn't mean to hit him there, but hey, whatever works right? The second guard panicked and removed his gun from its holster. He twisted on spot trying to find the source of the shot. He failed miserably. This time, Kaida managed a shot to the chest. This guard fell to his knees, but was still living. She emerged from her spot and finished him with a shot between the eyes.
Leaving the two corpses where they were, the medic slid down the wall and peered around the corner into the room with Nate's cell. Only two guards? Again? Kaida pocketed the gun and removed her two favorite blades, holding them where the blade faced backward.
So many choices to make. Should she go in now? Or should she let them come to her? Either way, they would not be going home to loving wife and kids tonight.

When the lights went off, Nate was seated on his little cell's bed, legs folded 'native american' style, his hands shoved between them. He'd been attempting to pass the time, swaying back and forth and singing loudly at top lung with his face carrying that usual blank spacey look. "And when we walk down the street, the wind sings our name in rebel songs! The sounds of the night should make us anxious! But it's much to laaate, when the fear is gone! Ooh I will meet you in the next life! I prooomise you! Where we can be togetheer! I will wait til then in heaaven! I proomiise, I promiise!" Nate at that time was seriously considering masturbating, the thought of doing it in front of all of those cameras was a prospect almost too delicious to resist. One hand had been working at the zipper of his uniform when the lights did go out though, and he fell quiet, his eyes widening some. What was that? Had to be interesting, it's not like they didn't pay their electric bill or something. When the fluorescents came on, he winced and held a hand over his good eye.
Nate's head tilted as he fixed his zipper back up, then got to his feet and started tentatively for the door. "What's going on?" Something in his head made him think Max had something to do with this. Who else would cause things to run anything but smoothly? Fuck, Maxie.. He hadn't honestly come to rescue him, had he? Couldn't have. But this was earlier action than usual for Maxwell to take. Half of him was excited to go, happy that Maxie cared enough to come here and risk all to save him. The other half would rather be executed than get yelled at when they got back to base, and hoped this was just a malfunction in the electricity.
Gunshots. Yeah definitely a rescue mission. Most possibly something else, too. Maxie wouldn't come just to rescue him, would he? He'd have to be doing something else as well. That single green eye turned up to the guards at his cell. "If I were you I wouldn't risk it. Gunshots and all, you're in for trouble. Better run while you can."

The gaurds twisted a little and withdrew their guns from their holsters. It would do Kaida some good not to underestimate them. After all, DPS was a professional organisation and these men were professionally trained.
Both ignored Nathan, leaving him to gibber away like he had done most of the day. The second gaurd that Kaida had shot had had enough time to shout out in pain, and the start of a warning to his comrades before she left a bullet between his eyes. This meant one action for the others.
Staying where they were posted, I shall call them Jim and Bob, Bob moved over to the cell door and covered it, while Jim moved further back along the corridor and and flipped an alarm switch. There was of course a complex system of alarms that ran throughout the building, and a second team of about five indivduals began to make their way towards the cells.
They weren't there yet, however, but on a second note Jim and Bob hadn't moved from their station. Which mean to successfully shot them Kaida would have to step around the corner into the corridor where Nate was located. Which meant exposing herself to fire.
What a pickle indeed.

Damn. Damn. Damn. She'd been too slow and now it was going to cost her. Kaida pocketed the blades and removed her gun once more. She'd heard them cocking their guns which meant they knew she was there. She had the dead guard to thank for that. Now she was a position that meant death if the wrong mood was made. That or a very bad hurting. A rather sarcastic and degrading scoff sounded in her mind. The way she thought sometimes. It was rather odd. Now her thoughts swarmed over ideas on how to get Nate and herself out of here alive. Possibly unwounded but that would never happen.
Kaida now wished that she had brought an extra firearm. Blades would do her no good now. She’d have to get up close. No chance of that without taking a bullet. Thankfully she remembered plenty of extra magazines and clips. Plus a small bag of explosives for Nate to have fun with when and if she got him out. She could imagine him joking around about all of this. Not taking it serious like he always did. ‘Twas the reason they were in the situation they were now. Damn him. Her gut clenched and twisted in all sorts of painful ways. God how she wanted to kick the shit out of him. Then how she didn’t. Very complicated girl.
The medic took a tighter grip to the gun and breathed in for a bit before letting it all out as quietly as she could. Her eyes closed but only for a brief second. Kaida quickly looked around the corner and took a few half blind shots. All except one missed her targets. And even the one that managed to do some damage was a mere flesh wound where the bullet had barely scraped the surface of Jim’s arm. He’d still be able to shoot. Damn it all. Kaida moved back behind the corner to dodge any bullets sent her way. It was then that she noticed the little blinking light near a switch. The bastard had set off the alarm. More would be coming.
She’d be plenty out numbered soon.

Nate was wishing at that moment he'd swallowed a condom full of fireworks. Gunshots.. Who the hell was shooting?! He was sure at any rate he'd find out soon enough. In a scrambled rush he scooped up his prison-issued shoes, hopping on one leg at a time as he tugged them on. They were nasty ugly uncomfortable things, but he wasn't going to walk around barefoot. He figured he'd need to make an escape.
As he leaned against the wall next to the door, hands folded over his stomach and staring at the back wall, he wondered absently if they would go through this much trouble to kill him. Maybe to preserve their secrets, but he was really certain if they'd gone through all of this trouble they might as well let him live, because he was more valuable alive than dead. Who else's pretty face would be the sunshine of their mornings? A faint grin curled parched lips, strange with that one uncovered green eye set in the type of stare only dolls and corpses had. Yeah that and the whole explosives thing. It was a plus knowledge. Things needed blown up.
Nate hoped absently whoever was shooting at the guards lived. He was certain it was either Maxie or Kaida. Fernn wasn't exactly a man of direct action, and Maxie wouldn't send someone he didn't trust to infiltrate the cells. Either way he had to mentally prepare himself for the glare, and hope that they brought him a weapon.

The gaurds returned fire.
Jim swore, blood spurting from a wound that was deeper than Kaida had thought it was. The bullet had penetrated flesh, and while he could steill shoot with his left arm Jim was a right handed indivudal. Which meant his aim would be off, and slow. Holding it close to his body there was a brief moment after they'd returned fire where there was a breif silence.
Jim and Bob leant flat against the wall, weapons cocked. One of the precuations of the alarm being set off in the cell's is an automatic lock down of secuirty doors. One of which the re-enforcements were trying to get through. Their shouting and their banging could be heard, but Kaida had at least five, ten minutes (at the very most) before they swarmed in and overwhelmed her by sheer force of numbers.
"You'll be out numbered soon." Bob said, a man who was trained in hostage negotiations. "Is this guy really worth it?"

It had taken a few moments before Kaida heard the banging coming from behind her. That was a small relief. Though it was only one bundle being taken off her back where a hundred more remained, it was still a load off. If she were able to kill these two guards and release Nate before the other guards broke through, then she may be able to get them out of the building before their time ran short. It was a large *if*. Worth a try? Most definitly.
Kaida leaned out once more from the wall and took careful aim.
"More than you know." her voice low yet audible.
With that she fired twice and knocked Bob off with one bullet to the head and the other just brushing his shoulder. The first killed him. Both guards would have managed to to return fire before (A) Bob was killed and (B) Before she made it behind the wall. Whether she could dodge them or not...well....all depended on her focus. And Jim still remained.
This was one mission she could NOT afford to blow.

Nate sat quietly there in his cell, listening to the gunshots fired, somewhat worried about what was going on out there. Who was shooting? Who was getting shot? Would he be saved? Would he be killed? Holy hell he hasn't had so much to think about at one time since.. Ever, really.
Still there he stood, leaning against the wall, arms folded across his chest. Well he really couldn't do anything else, jut wait. The waiting bit was the most difficult.
